Galaxy Hunters

MegaCorps have loosed giant mutant monsters on the galaxy - time for you to outfit a Mech the size of a building and collect on some bounties! Pacific Rim the Game, anyone? 😀

Galaxy Hunters is a new game from IDW Games by Daniel Alves. We also have enjoyed Masmorra and Arkhanos by Mr. Alves. Galaxy Hunters is a worker placement, goal fulfillment game in which you get to add on weapons and other upgrades to your Mech and Pilot - they start almost totally unequipped. Then go out into the embattled galaxy and hunt some mutants, which are worth money and DNA. DNA can be turned in to complete missions for sizable VP chunks. All very satisfying and mostly luck free.

The base game comes with 4 fairly large mech miniatures. Think BattleTech or maybe Gundam, but with some RoboTech (Macross) mixed in. Each Mech comes with a large tile made of hexagon shapes, and each upgrade fits into a notch on the tile. The Pilot likewise slots into the mech, and that combination activate 2 of 4 potential starting powers on the mech I am loving this game so far and am eager to get to play some more.
